Columbia Entrepreneurs: Bharath Krishnamoorthy

Bharath-Krishnamoorthy-Founder-Axle

Axle (CEO Bharath Krishnamoorthy, Columbia Law School ’15) is a working capital management platform for small to medium sized freight brokers. Processing $1mil+ in invoices monthly with 40% MOM growth.

Bharath will pitch Axle in the FIRST annual CVC London Demo “Night” at 2 PM EST on Wednesday, October 21st. Axle will be one of six teams to pitch.

The all-virtual nature allowed more teams to apply from anywhere and will also allow a larger group of attendees. While we miss the in-person events, we are excited to host all of you that might not have been able to travel to these cities. Remember to RSVP!

Bharath, better known as "B,” is the Co-Founder and CEO of Axle. He graduated from Columbia Law School in 2015 then practiced at a global top 10 law firm, doing M&A and PE work in NYC. After about a year, he quit to start another business with his high school best friend and long-time business partner, Shawn Vo. Shawn and Bharath had basically planned their lives around working together (i.e. chose schools/jobs that allowed them to live near one another) so this decision came as a surprise to no one (but their parents).

What lead you to working with your co-founders?

We've been best friends since high school. Since then, we've co-founded a couple different small businesses together.

What motivated you to create Axle?

Efficient freight finance is absolutely critical to global supply chains, but it is badly outdated. Our goal is to become the premier financial provider for global logistics.

What has the building process been like for you and your team during a pandemic?

It has been exhilarating. Things have been moving so quickly, it feels like we all have different jobs every 2 weeks.

What makes Axle superior?

We're the leading tech-enabled competitor in a field comprised of low-tech dinosaurs. This translates into lower costs, better service, and other value additive services for the clients.

Are there any resources or words of advice you’d share with other founders?

Only hire people that are better than you.

Has working remotely been challenging to your process?

Our team has always been remote, even before the pandemic, so we didn't have to make any changes to our day-to-day operations.

What city are you based out of?

NYC
