Healthcare is exceptionally complex and innovating in healthcare is very hard.
Our Healthcare Initiative connects Columbia alumni leading healthcare startups to mentorship and networking opportunities. By connecting with key industry stakeholders, start-ups can better navigate the complexities of the industry and more efficiently scale.

We host small, intimate events for industry professionals to meet one another (virtually for now).
When to Apply
The selection process for start-ups is competitive. We have a rolling application process, with screening completed by a committee with healthcare investing expertise.
The application for startups will be available August 2020.

Who Can Apply?
Companies whose founders or key early employees have ties to Columbia University can apply. The startup must have at least one founder or key early employee affiliated with the University. Affiliation includes alumnus, faculty member, employee, or current student.
We look for ventures across all stages and healthcare sub-sectors (including biotech).

CVC’s Healthcare Initiative is led by Narmeen Azad.
Narmeen Azad is a co-founder of Altopax, a telehealth startup with a mission to increase access to mental healthcare. Prior to Altopax, Narmeen was a healthcare investor. She has invested in 65+ companies across healthcare services, healthcare IT, pharmaceutical companies, device companies, diagnostic companies, TPAs, CROs and more. She earned her MBA from Harvard Business School. Narmeen completed her undergraduate studies at Columbia University.
